A scarce and generally well-preserved example of the Prussian all-tin ersatz Pickelhaube, produced by toy manufacturers for wartime use. The skull retains virtually all of its original black finish, with only minor indentations to the right-hand side. Faint traces of the maker’s name, including the word Berlin, remain visible behind the peak.
Fitted with its correct Prussian front plate, back strap, and spike, the helmet also retains its untouched original front strap complete with state and national cockades. The interior liner is present and complete, though extremely fragile in places and partially detached from the body, now held securely in place with a discreet modern sponge former.
A rare and highly collectible example of a wartime ersatz Pickelhaube.
