German WWI Prussian Ersatz Felt Pickelhaube

A rare Prussian Ersatz felt pickelhaube, with the indelible marking of “Schlesisches Infantry Regiment 157” to the inner rear peak—faint but discernible upon careful inspection. The original owner’s name is also applied but unfortunately illegible. The helmet features a high-quality hard felt shell with neatly double-stitched front and rear peaks. Fitted with a brass Prussian front plate, missing the head from the left-hand sceptre eagle, along with its original chinstrap and complete State and national cockades.

Two of the dome fixings for the spike base are missing, while the remaining two are unusual threaded studs rather than domed rivets, offering a distinctive period detail. The interior retains a spike base plate with original paper label showing the manufacturer’s name and size “54”, along with the multi-grained leather liner, fully intact.
