GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN 1860/1870 MODEL ENLISTED RANKS DRAGOON HELMET

Excellent condition skull, heavy and thick leather in perfect order, firmly attached front and back peaks, standard Dragoon cross base, with non-removable spike, Prussian Dragoon type eagle, with matching later clip over brass chin scales, having both its national and Prussian later pattern cockades fitted, the front peak trim in excellent undamaged condition. All the brass fittings have toned, the rear peak with markings which are difficult to read, to the interior, the remains of the paper label just showing the lettering “Dragoon Regiment” with the number not visible, the leather liner is all intact, and has had one tongue collector repaired. These early helmets went through various ordnance changes, which is the reason why the chin scale attachments and the chin scales themselves have been replaced with a clip-over style.
