A well-preserved medium-size all-leather pickelhaube for a member of Pioneer Battalion 24. The skull remains in excellent shape with light overall crazing, showing only slight misshaping to one side of the leather rear peak, while the front peak remains strong. Fittings include a back strap, Prussian front plate, front peak trim, and strap bosses in white metal, as correct for Pioneer troops. Notably, the spike and circular spike base were depot-replaced during WWI with chemically finished field grey examples. The front peak trim features interior crimping and one small split to the centre, likely caused by minor compression from either side.

The interior retains its superb original mid-tan colour, with a complete leather liner showing light age foxing and its original leather drawstring still in place. Clearly stamped to the rear peak is B.A.VII (Army Group 7), dated 1908, alongside a deep ink unit stamp of P.B.24. The manufacturer’s stamp to the inner crown is partly obscured by further unit markings. Complete with both its national and Prussian cockades—though the Prussian State cockade is missing—and its original chinstrap, which remains present but is fragile.
