A fine example of a World War I German Officer’s Pickelhaube from the 8th Foot Artillery Regiment. The leather body retains a bright finish with some creasing and minor distortion from age, while the original gilt fittings, including the flat chin scales, remain in excellent condition. Both the officer’s Prussian and state cockades are present and well-preserved.

Marked with the hand-applied size "60" to the interior, the helmet features a mid-tan leather liner that is complete, though the inner silk lining has shredded in sections from wear. The stitching to the rear peak has largely rotted, leaving the rear peak slightly loose but still attached. Accompanied by its original field cover, which fits snugly and is clearly stitched with the regimental number "8" to the front. The rear of the cover bears a "D.R.P." marking.

A desirable and complete wartime piece representing the elite artillery formations of the Imperial German Army.
