GERMAN WWI M18 TRENCH HELMET

A good, clean example of the scarce M18 model trench helmet. The size stampings of the manufacturer were rather lightly stamped; size numbers can be seen as 66, the exterior shell retaining at least 70% of its original apple green finish, with some light corrosion around the front brim, lower right side and the reverse skirt. The interior has its M18 steel liner band rusty overall, still having attached its three light cream leather liner pads, with their inner cushion pads, rust markings to the cream leather, but all three pads are firmly attached to the steel liner band, original drawstring complete. The helmet, with its rare and original M18 carbine clip type strap, stitching delicate in places, and very faint traces of the manufacturer's stamping can be seen on the rear of the wide section of the buckle strap.
