German WWI M17 Camouflage Trench Helmet

A remarkable M17 trench helmet, skull-stamped AL 64, featuring a distinctive block-pattern camouflage of brown, green, and ochre—absent of the usual black separation lines. The majority of the original paint finish remains intact with only minor chipping, showcasing exceptional preservation.

Inside, the original M17 steel liner band remains firmly in place, accompanied by the fragile remnants of a single leather interior pad. Faint traces of two separate wearers’ names are still discernible on the inside skirt, adding a personal historical dimension to this rare piece.
