Of the three main wartime models (M.16, M.17, and M.18), the M.18 is by far the hardest to find. This very good example, stamped BF64, retains nearly all of its original exterior finish. The untouched M.18 liner band remains in place with its three leather pads present (horsehair cushions absent). Two pads retain their tongues, one showing a split at the drawstring hole; the third pad has the tip of one tongue missing with another fragile and loosely attached. The inner rear skirt shows a clear size 64 rubber ink stamp, manufacturer stamp, and other faint markings, along with traces of the owner’s names. A short section of the original chinstrap survives.
