Out of the three major models, the M.16, 17 and 18, the 18 is the most difficult to obtain. This very good example is stamped BF64, retaining virtually all of its original finish to the exterior skull. The inner M.18 style liner band is untouched, complete with its three inner leather pads, the inner horsehair pads missing. Of the three leather pads, two have their tongues intact, with one tongue split at the drawstring hole; the last pad has the complete tip of one tongue missing, and another is very frail and lightly attached. Size stamped 64? in rubber ink stamp to the inner rear skirt, as well as a manufacturer's stamping plus other indecipherable rubber ink stampings, also to the inner skirt area and traces of the owner's names. Only a very short section of the original chinstrap remains.
