A highly atmospheric and visually striking example of the Model 1917 combat helmet, finished in classic three-tone camouflage with fields of green, ochre, and tan, divided by bold black separation lines. The front of the helmet displays a lozenge pattern, with the rear echoing the same design, and smaller green panels present on each side.
The exterior paintwork remains virtually complete, with excellent overall coverage and patina. Some rust bleed is evident on the rear right side of the shell, having emerged from the lower rim—visible both externally and internally, adding to the helmet’s combat-worn character.
The interior retains its original M.17 steel liner band, with the solidified remains of all three leather liner pads still present. The size stamp “64” is clearly visible inside the shell; however, the manufacturer’s code preceding the size has been obscured by rust corrosion.
A strong and original example of a WWI German camouflaged combat helmet, with vivid colour, untouched character, and all key elements intact.
