This is a complete and well-preserved example of the classic M.16 steel trench helmet. The shell is stamped with the manufacturer and size code which appears to be T66. The helmet retains a significant amount of its original apple green factory finish, though there is some expected thinning to the paint on the crown area consistent with service use.

The helmet is structurally sound with all original rivets in place. The interior features a near-complete three-pad leather liner; while the tips of two of the leather tongues are absent, all three internal protective pads remain present. This example is particularly notable for being fitted with its rare and original double-buckle leather chinstrap, a component that is frequently missing from helmets of this period.

This is an untouched example of the iconic German stahlhelm, showing the transition to the specialised head protection required for frontline service during the Great War. It represents a cornerstone piece for any collection of Great War equipment.
