A characterful and battle-damaged German WWI M.16 camouflage helmet, maker stamped with a bell and marked ‘L64’, identifying Richard Lindenberg as the manufacturer. The helmet features a visible crack to the upper skull area, consistent with field use.
Its original camouflage paint scheme remains partially intact—originally a three-colour pattern of brown, tan, and green with black separation lines. The brown and tan are still clearly visible, while only faint traces of green remain, particularly on the reverse and the lower left side of the skull.
To the interior, the original M.16 leather liner is present and slightly shrunken with age. All three leather pads remain intact, with one retaining its original horsehair stuffing. The helmet is also fitted with its period leather chinstrap.
A striking and evocative piece, this helmet retains strong visual impact and historical integrity.
