GERMAN WWI IRON CROSS AND BAVARIAN AWARD IDENTIFIED

A standard German World War I 1914 Iron Cross second class in nice condition with its original ribbon, accompanied by the Bavarian Military Service Cross third class with swords with ribbon, with accompanying memorial card to Ludwig Ortner, who was a soldier in Chevauleger regiment number 8. The photo memorial card records the death on 21st March 1918 during the first day of the German 1918 spring offensive. The photo shows him wearing his unique Chevauleger uniform, the number eight clear on his shoulder strap, wearing a K 98/84 bayonet.
