German WWI Iron Cross 1st Class - Silver 800 Disc Back

This is a very rare and high-quality variant of the 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class. The award is constructed with a real silver frame, clearly marked with the 800 silver purity stamp on the lower arm of the reverse. It features a distinctive concave shape, designed to sit flush against the wearer's tunic.

The attachment system is highly unusual, utilizing a large rear disc plate that is secured in place by a smaller brass screw plate with a serrated edge for easy adjustment. The central iron core shows some expected loss of the black finish due to age, which is common for genuine period pieces.
