GERMAN WWI IRON CROSS 1ST CLASS DISC BACK

A very rare variant, excellent quality real silver ‘800’ stamped to one of the arms of the cross, to the lower arm of the cross on the reverse side. Silver concave shape. The rear plate is retained by a smaller brass screw plate having a serrated edge. Some loss of finish to the central iron core, see Nimmergut Deutsche Ordnung and Ehrenzeichen Volume 2 page 1066 number 2559 for this variant.
