German WWI Gew98 Trench Mount

A rare ground-dug example of a GEW98 periscope mount. The main body remains in very good condition, showing surface corrosion on one side and slightly deeper corrosion on the opposite side from ground exposure. The closure fitting for securing the rifle butt is still functional. Minor corrosion is present on the upper section, but the piece is highly restorable and suitable for display. Accompanied by a horseshoe-shaped steel section, possibly associated with the mount, though its connection remains uncertain.
