A very nice, service-worn and highly collectable GEW98 1916-dated display piece. Marked to the receiver ‘Waffen Fabrik Mauser A-G Oberndorf’ with the clear date 1916. Numbered 8676, with GEW 98 and various proof marks still visible. The operating handle assembly is mismatched. An Imperial acceptance stamp remains on the wood stock.
As a fully de-activated display piece, the operating handle opens and closes correctly, while the trigger mechanism does not function. It retains its graduated sight, front mounting system, and matching 8676 internal trigger housing. One screw is missing from the strap-attachment ironwork on the stock. The metalwork shows a deep, dark grey finish with no rust.
This de-activated display piece is legal for circulation within the U.K. and comes with its European Union Freedom of Movement de-activation certificate. Buyers outside the U.K. or EU should check their own import regulations before placing an order.
