A very nice service-worn and extremely collectable GEW 98 bolt action rifle. The standard arm of the German soldier in WWI, marked to the receiver ‘Waffen Fabrik Mauser A-G Oberndorf’ dated ‘1916’. Gun number ‘8676’ marked clearly ‘GEW 98’, various other proof marks. Mismatched numbered bolt. Nicely Imperial German acceptance stamp to the wood stock. The weapon is deactivated as stated, the bolt opens and closes, and the trigger does not fire. Complete with its graduated sight, bayonet attachment system, and trigger mechanism matches ‘8676’. One screw is missing from the strap attachment ironwork on the stock; the metalwork has a good, deep, dark grey colour, no rust. This deactivated weapon is free to be circulated within the U.K. and also has its European Union Freedom of Movement deactivation certificate. Any other countries not members of the EU or another part of the U.K. should check their own country’s import regulations before ordering.
