GERMAN WWI FIBRE BODIED BAVARIAN MANS HELMET

A rare ersatz helmet from Bavaria of WWI, being a size 57, which is large for a pickelhaube, an enlisted man's helmet, constructed in a one-piece fibre. The front peak has added brass trim, the rear peak has steel trim, which has been finished over in the same finish as the black fibre. Brass non-removable spike and spike base with matching brass Bavarian helmet plate. Good leather strap with both national and State Bavarian cockades. The interior liner, all in leather, has some tips to the 9-tongued liner, clearly marked in red ink ‘57’ in the area very close to the central cut-out air vent.
