An exceptionally rare example of the Model 1895 tan canvas-covered cork pith helmet, as issued to German Marine troops serving in the East Asian colonies.
The helmet retains its original single Reich cockade affixed to the front and features its correct cloth centre band. Light storage staining and mild discolouration are present, but the cork body remains completely undamaged—a highly unusual and desirable condition for such a fragile piece.
The interior is fitted with its original sprung cork-supported leather liner and is fully lined in green brushed cotton. Faint remnants of a white rectangular ink stamp are still visible to the interior lining.
A superb and scarce example of colonial German military headgear, rarely encountered in such complete and undisturbed condition.
