GERMAN WWI COMMEMORATIVE PAINTED GLASS BALL

A glass ball-shaped ornament overpainted with scenes of German battleships with aircraft flying above. A strip running around the bowl in the German naval colours of WWI with the faint traces of a seaman’s name hand-painted. We have no idea what this originally was intended for or where or how it was used, but undoubtedly original to the period.
