A scarce large-size (approx. 56) Bavarian tin pickelhaube. Constructed entirely of tin, as was common with these ersatz helmets—many of which were produced by toy manufacturers during the war. The skull shows light service wear with a few indentations and areas of rust bleed to the paint. The circular spike base, in subdued brass, retains three of its rivets with one missing at the reverse. The subdued brass Bavarian front plate matches well in tone.

Fitted with its original leather chinstrap, though both the national and Bavarian cockades are absent. The interior liner was originally formed of ten tongues, with eight surviving intact. A fine and increasingly rare example of a Bavarian ersatz combat helmet.
