A rare set of steel grey breeches, typically worn by mountain troops and assault pioneers. The trousers show minimal wear with a small moth hole on the inner thigh, another near the left-hand pocket opening, and a further tiny hole at the rear near the V section of the waistband. Designed in the correct WWI configuration, they feature straight legs or breeches with the long adjustment belt on the reverse and a double-pronged buckle. All zeltbahn type buttons are present, with two upper side pockets secured by closure buttons. Fully lined in lightweight brushed cotton from the waistband to the lower breech, these breeches are marked within a rectangle ‘K.B.A.II B.II’, indicating the Bavarian 2nd Army Corps. A superb and historically significant set.
