Bavarian helmets are commonly found on the collectors’ market, but examples with white metal fittings are notably scarce. This officer’s Pickelhaube belonged to the Bavarian Infantry Leib Regiment, formed in 1814 in Munich, and features all-white metal fittings with flat chin scales.
The leather skull is in good condition, with both front and rear peaks firmly attached to the main body. It bears a large Bavarian front plate, a standard fluted spike, and a substantial cross-shaped base. Inside, the helmet retains its black leather liner along with an extra blue silk inner liner.
The helmet is complete with both of its non-serrated national and Bavarian cockades—an uncommon style for Bavarian helmets. One nut is missing from a star on the cross base.
A rare and distinguished example, highly desirable for collectors of Bavarian military headgear.
