A rare and desirable enlisted ranks M.15 helmet from a Bavarian Chevauleger Regiment, presented here in an unusually large size. The leather skull is in excellent condition, showing only minor surface crazing, with both peaks firmly secured to the main body.
All fittings are in chemically patinated field grey, including the standard Bavarian front plate. The helmet retains its original national and Bavarian state cockades, as well as the distinctive square-cut front peak and fluted spike.
The interior features an 8-tongued leather liner in excellent condition, complete with its original drawstring. The upper inner crown is profusely maker stamped, with clear size marking ‘57’, date-stamped ‘1915’, and regimentally marked ‘1.S R.R.’.
A scarce and well-preserved example of Bavarian cavalry headgear from the Great War.
