A scarce and service-worn example of the Reserve Officer’s spiked helmet for the prestigious 109th Baden Infantry Regiment. Constructed entirely of leather, this helmet retains its original form with notable wear and signs of age. Estimated size is approximately 56–57.

The helmet's crown has slightly sunk from long-term storage, and congealing is visible to both sides of the skull. Despite this, the Pickelhaube maintains good overall shape. The rear peak remains firmly attached, while the front peak is excellent, complete with its original undamaged peak trim.

The helmet is fitted with untouched, original flat brass chin scales, which have lost their gilt finish over time. Both national and Baden officer cockades are present. The large Baden griffin front plate is undamaged, save for loss of enamel to the central cross. Below it sits the correct Reserve Officer’s cross with appropriate lettering.

The spike and circular spike base are finished in white metal, largely intact, though one star is missing. The back strap has lost its white metal finish entirely and is slightly distorted. Internally, the tan leather sweatband shows heavy wear, while the original silk lining remains but is shredded. The inner skull retains good color and evidence of period use.

All internal washers are present for the spike base and side cappings, as well as for the chin scales. Notably, there are no washers behind the two threaded studs securing the front plate.

Though showing signs of age and service, this helmet remains a rare and desirable piece from a sought-after regiment—examples in any condition are increasingly difficult to find.
