German WWI Aviator’s Helmet

A leather flying helmet as worn by German aviators during the First World War, often seen in period photographs. Overall in good condition, with some light leather rot where the rear neck flap joins the main body.

Clearly dated ‘1917’, with an additional red block of unidentified lettering. Features pigskin earpieces and an interior liner with 9 of its original 10 tongues intact. A good degree of the original green finish remains, with only a slight scuff to the finish on the top comb.
