The camouflage centre bands are normally found on pork pie hats ( the Feldmütze), and it is exceptionally rare to find one on an NCO visor cap. The cap itself is unusually in an upper size 56 or 57. Minor moth nips generally over to the overhang at the rear of the cap. Red piped crown. Bright red centre band, which is the reason why the camouflage bands were produced, to stop the enemy identifying individual soldiers. Complete with its enlisted ranks Prussian and national cockades. Chinstrap present. Some congealing to the fibre peak. The black leather sweatband is intact, with wear and use obvious, with the interior lined in black brushed cotton. A rare cap with the camouflage band.
