This is a rare example of a Prussian-pattern helmet plate (wappen) specifically for the Duchy of Anhalt. Items from the State of Anhalt are highly sought after by collectors due to the relatively small size of the contingent within the Imperial German Army.
The plate follows the standard Prussian eagle design but features the distinctive Anhalt modifications. The breast of the eagle is embossed with the word Furst and is overlaid with the Anhalt coat of arms. Below this sits the reserve cross, which also bears the traditional motto Fur Furst Und Vaterland.
The reverse side of the plate retains its two original attachment loops. There is evidence of an old, period-style repair on the reverse, located close to the orb on the bottom left-hand side of the plate. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a hard-to-find state plate with genuine character.
