A highly unusual fighting knife with a standard blade in excellent condition. The hilt is a miniaturised version of the model 1898 02 and 05 bayonet, complete with its slotted bayonet system and spring-loaded fitting button. The nose of the pommel is flat, and the cross guard is also a percentage smaller than the standard size. Wood grips with one central rivet. Whether this is a display piece or some form of prototype, we have been unable to identify. It is with a scabbard, which we do not believe to be the original to it; the proportion of the scabbard at its top would seem to be slightly larger in proportion to the hilt itself, it is a rare scabbard with its own miniaturised frog fitting lug. An interesting piece for continuous research.
