A highly unusual World War I German display piece featuring a standard profile in excellent condition. The hilt is a miniaturised version of the 1898 02 and 05 bayonet design, complete with its slotted system and sprung loaded fitting mechanism. The pommel nose is flat, and the cross guard slightly smaller than standard. Wood grips with a central rivet remain intact.
The piece comes with a scabbard, which does not appear to be original. Its proportions at the top are slightly larger than the hilt, though it includes its own miniaturised frog fitting lug. This is a rare and interesting display piece, ideal for continued research and study.
