An interesting reminder of war being a 2nd pattern type Afrikakorps tunic and standard pattern straight leg trousers that were recently recovered from Italy. These items show extremely extensive wear; their origin was from a POW camp, and the items appear to have been left behind by various departing prisoners and were discovered in Italy. The tunic itself is far from mint but highly evocative with RB number still to the interior, numerous repairs and various areas let into the uniform. It is very clear that while the uniform was extensively patched, it was worn, and these repairs are, in fact, working repairs and not those carried out later by a collector. The trousers are in a very similar condition, with numerous areas of repair, etc., however, they remain dusty and 100% genuine from the period.
