German M.35 Double Decal Combat Helmet

A very good example of an M.35 double decal combat helmet, factory-updated in line with 1940 regulations. The national tricolour decal has been overpainted, yet with age the paint has cracked, allowing the colours of the hidden decal to show through clearly. The army decal remains crisp and fully visible.

The helmet retains much of its 1940 field overpaint, with only minor losses, and traces of the earlier apple-green finish beneath. The three liner retaining studs have lost most of their paint from age and handling.

Inside, the size 55 liner is complete, supple, and shows expected storage and service wear. The original drawstring is present, as is the aluminium liner band. The chinstrap is intact but dry from age. The shell size is obscured by the 1940 overpaint.
