GERMAN 1870 IRON CROSS

The rare Iron Cross is the 1st class example of the 1870 Franco-Prussian War. This convex version is in good condition; it would appear that the black finish to the central core has been re-touched in, all other details good and clear. Semi-wide tapering pin, original hook and hinge present. It is estimated that over 1,200 of the 1st class examples were awarded for the Franco-Prussian War and are consequently a rare award.
