A stunning looking bronze figure on a marble base measuring 81cm in height from the base of the marble to the very tip of the bayonet, the figure itself measuring 59cm. The artist’s name is at the very base of the figure, ‘E.Marloton’. The figure is in patinated green wearing the 1870 uniform of kepi and full combat equipment, carrying his Label or Gras rifle, with its Gras bayonet, which is fixed to the rifle. To the front of the kepi is the ‘7’ indicating the 7th Infantry Regiment. The detail is overall excellent, the face having a small goatee beard. The whole item is very heavy, so shipping costs should be considered. A very fine backdrop or addition to a French First World War or 1870 collection.
