CANADIAN WWII EX GERMAN LUFTWAFFE PILOT’S CANADIAN TRAINING ALBUM

A very attractive album featuring the gold-blocked insignia of the Royal Canadian Air Force. On the opening page is a photocopy of a letter from the Prime Minister of Canada in which he thanks the recipient of the album, who was an ex-Luftwaffe pilot from WWII, for joining the Canadian NATO Air Training Programme. Very large format images showing the officers carrying the flags of the various nations, the training bases in Canada, and Canadian Parliament buildings in Ottawa. Pilots in training wearing the different uniforms of the various NATO countries. B25 Mitchell bombers, Dekota aircraft, jets in the sky, all different models, mountainous and glacier views of Canada. Group photographs at the end of the album, possibly at the end of their training cycle, all the different pilots wearing the different uniforms of their individual countries. At the end of the album are two pictures on one page: one image of the unidentified pilot wearing his Luftwaffe officer's uniform in WWII, the second picture, slightly older, wearing his NATO camouflage and Bundes Luftwaffe visor cap. Some images of life back in Germany and tourist postcards of the United States. An interesting historical album showing the lineage of so many Luftwaffe pilots who went on to stay within the reformed Bundes Luftwaffe in 1956.
