An extremely rare pair of other ranks–issued breeches made from typical coarse Canadian wool, without inner leg reinforcement, designed to be worn with puttees. The Canadian military provided extensive personnel and training for the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. This pair retains its original paper label marked “Royal Flying Corps, Toronto 1918”, along with additional acceptance stamps. The interior is lined with coarse olive linen, and all-metal Canadian buttons are present, including a riveted fly button. Although the breeches have suffered from moth damage, they have been carefully restored to the legs and remain a fascinating display piece. Any RFC clothing is scarce—these are the first Canadian-issued breeches we have encountered.
