BRITISH WWII RAF GROUP CAPTAIN AND ABOVE VISOR CAP

A very nice condition, large size, possibly size 58 officers' visor cap for the rank of Group Captain and Above. No moth damage to the body. Standard mohair centre band. This rank uses the standard officers' badge, bullion wire, red velvet and gilt metallic flying eagle. Cloth-covered side buttons. The black chinstrap has been repaired, and the collector reinforced on the reverse side. Rank bullion lace to the front peak. To the interior of the cap, the maker of ‘Bates, Hatters, Jermyn Street, London’ also matches gold blocked ‘Bates’ to the light tan leather sweatband in two further places.
