A large size, standard pattern RAF officer’s tunic in nice condition, featuring a four-button front and fixed belt. The brass “A” insignia identifies the wearer as a member of the Auxiliary Air Force. The uniform bears the rank of Flight Lieutenant and includes an original Burton tailor’s label inside. Unusually, there is also a size 10 RAF officers government issue label dated 1943 by Montague Burton Ltd of Leeds, complete with the broad arrow mark, stitched to the interior.
The tunic displays a finely embroidered, padded RAF pilot’s wings badge on the upper right breast. Accompanying the tunic is a matching set of straight-leg officer’s quality trousers. Both pieces show no moth damage, with only minor repair work on the upper right sleeve of the tunic.
