A highly interesting and large grouping of documents, identity cards, medal ribbons, flying licenses belonging to a captain Peter Morgan and a former Women’s Auxiliary Airt Force member Nina Simpson, both were serving in the RAF together, met and were subsequently married. There is too much to list individually but we will mention the important items. A form 1767 Royal Air Force Navigators, Air Bombs and Air Gunners Flying Log Book belonging to L.H.C.W Simpson NE WAAF number 2038768, Effective January 1943. Many flights were completed by the WAAF Simpson in Beaufighter, Beaufort, Mosquitoes, Tiger Moth, Anson Oxford Auster, Wimpy. She flew 239 hours cumulatively. Also included is Nina Simpson’s certificate of enrolment as a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force in August 1942. It is not completely clear from the documentation what wartime flying her husband Ian Morgan did, there is a July 1945 British Empire Flying License showing Peter Morgan wearing his Air Crew battledress blouse with flying wings attached. A huge amount of documentation relating to post war flying, mainly with East African Airways. His miniature group of medals combines the 1939/45 Star, the France and Germany Star, War in Defence Medal, plus the unusual Air Efficiency Medal, a set of his wings, a set of medal ribbons. A magnificent photograph album seemingly put together by Nina Simpson made out of an RAF Station book, in which she annotates ‘During the service 12.8.42’ followed by possibly 149 photographs of her life in the WAAF. Many pictures of Mosquitoes at RAF Cranfield, fellow members of the WAAF, by this time she has met her future husband Peter Morgan, many pictures of him, other station colleagues both in Irvin jackets and in standard RAF uniform. Sports days and general life on various RAF Stations around the country in the period of 1945/46/47. Various documents relating to his service with East African Airways including his East African Airways Zambian issued Flying License and much much more. The documentation goes up to 1965.
