An excellent and complete example of a 1916 pattern officer’s tunic belonging to a Captain of the 1st/5th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment. This finely preserved piece displays all the hallmarks of wartime service while remaining in exceptional condition.
The tunic features a matching set of bronze shoulder titles and three bronze officer rank stars affixed to the shoulder boards, each also bearing a green wool “T” denoting Territorial Force status. All buttons are of the correct regimental pattern.
To the upper right breast are three original World War I campaign ribbons, and fitted to the tunic is a 1915-dated trench whistle—an especially desirable addition. Each sleeve carries one wound stripe and one overseas service stripe, both correctly applied.
There is no visible moth damage or staining, making this a remarkably well-preserved and desirable officer’s tunic from the Great War.
