British WWI Small Box Respirator Gas Mask

A good example of the standard issue British WWI small box respirator. The facemask remains in sound condition with unbroken lenses and all original head straps present. The front of the mask is marked ‘K2’ and retains its original respirator tube and filter box. As commonly seen, the filter box has suffered from rust deterioration, with the base now reinforced with duct tape for stability. The exterior carrying bag is excellent, complete with its full-length shoulder strap. Clearly maker marked ‘Waring & Gillows 1917’ to the inner closure flap, with a faintly stamped large number ‘2’ and broad arrow over ‘50’ to the exterior flap. An original owner’s name has been hand-applied to the front of the bag.
