A very nice white top naval cap, all blue body with a white removable top, the top is in a ribbed material. Some minor rust staining and discolouration, but generally excellent. Fitted with a Chief Petty Officer red on black crown over anchor badge. Standard WWI period small chinstrap. This is an officer's quality cap with a white leather sweatband with the initials of the owner on the interior. The upper inner crown, the silk has shot, but reveals the very nice circular stitching. Interestingly, when the cap was constructed, a newspaper was used to fill the area between the exterior blue and the interior silk, which, as stated, has now shot. Royal Naval caps of WWI are difficult to obtain. Good size of approximately 56 or 57.
