A fine example of the standard 1902 pattern tunic, as worn throughout the First World War. As the war extended beyond initial expectations, production materials and labour became scarce, leading to minor variations in uniform construction. This tunic reflects the 1918 modification, with just one seam beneath the collar instead of the earlier two.
Medium-size 1902 pattern configuration with four exterior pockets—two pleated breast pockets and two lower pockets with flaps only. It features reinforced shoulders and stitched epaulettes. Worn by a Sergeant Major in the Royal Fusiliers, it is adorned with a brass crown over three stripes, RF brass shoulder titles, and a 1914 ribbon. All general service buttons are present, with two showing oxidation.
The interior is skeleton-lined and clearly marked with the WWI issue stamp "109 over WD" with the letter ‘M’ beneath. Minor moth nips present, but the cloth retains good nap overall.
