A very fine example of a large size enlisted man's issue Royal Flying Corps (RFC) tunic that has been service worn and modified internally for flying duties. It is constructed from standard khaki cloth and is free of moth damage anywhere on the exterior.
The tunic is in the standard configuration with epaulettes and two lower pockets with flaps. It is fitted with a very nice matching set of Royal Flying Corps shoulder titles, observer wings, and sergeant stripes.
This is a piece that was modified for actual flying use by having a thick, chequered blanket lining inserted to the interior over the thin issue lining. Further evidence of this being an actual flyer's tunic is the presence of windproof cuffs. The tunic is fitted with all its original buttons, and all correct hooks are in place to finally close the plastron front. The only noted moth damage is to the added blanket lining on the interior.
