A fabulous example of the highly desirable Royal Flying Corps (RFC) officers tunic from WWI. This piece is rendered in a nice light, sandy-coloured khaki and is a good upper medium close to large size.
The tunic is the distinctive plastron-fronted style, constructed with a fly front that conceals the main closure buttons. The final closure point of the plastron itself is secured by three male/female press studs. All buttons present are totally original to the tunic. The inner lining is complete and includes one inside pocket.
Insignia fitted include cloth Major’s pips to each epaulette, denoting a senior officer's rank. A very nice set of padded Royal Flying Corps officers pilot’s wings is affixed to the breast.
The tunic shows minor signs of age and wear: there are three slight snags very close to the upper left-hand buttons, a minor moth nip just below the left-hand pocket, and one small nip to the breast just below the pilot's wings.
