British WWI RAF 1st Pattern Cap Badge

A fine metallic example featuring dark blue (almost black) cloth bordering and a backplate stamped with the maker’s mark ‘J. Gaunt & Company, London’ on the reverse. This is the very first pattern RAF cap badge, introduced in 1918.
