An extremely rare example of the enlisted ranks cap badge worn by a crew member of the British airship R100. This beautifully hand-embroidered badge was intended for wear on the visor cap and represents one of the few surviving examples associated with early British airship service.
The R100 was the sister ship to the ill-fated R101, which famously crashed in northern France in the mid-1930s. Following the disaster, the R100 project was abandoned, and the airship was scrapped—making any surviving items from its crew exceptionally scarce.
The reverse retains residue of paper and adhesive from being previously mounted to a collector’s display board. A rare and historically important item from the early days of British military aviation.
