The helmets with the fluted skull were produced in Great Britain primarily for issue to the Portuguese troops of WWI, many were diverted from this contract and were offered privately by companies such as Gamages in Holborn London and the Army & Navy Stores in Victoria London, fitted with higher quality officers liners, these were very popular and many images can be seen of officers wearing these helmets in the field in France. Excellent colour remaining to the exterior, with its leather strap surrounding the base of the skull. To the interior, the officers' liner has serrated cork edges and a leather sweatband with white stitching. The inner bowl of felt has four air vents fitted. Complete with its original strap and buckle, all in good supple condition.
