BRITISH WWI OFFICERS TRENCH FLOPPY CAP - DEPOT ISSUED

It is highly unusual to obtain any officer's equipment that has been depot-issued. This example of the floppy trench cap, non-size stamped, but possibly size 55. Standard khaki material, Large floppy shape. Fitted with the officer's badge of the East Yorkshire Regiment. Standard narrow period chinstrap with the Royal Coat of Arms on both side buttons. To the interior, lightweight olive drab lining, classic circular stitching for the First War period. Interestingly, between the lining and the outer material can be felt a panel of waterproof celluloid material, which is not generally found on officers' trench caps. Just behind the forehead area to the inner lining, is stamped the letter ‘A 1915’, indicating this was a government-approved issue cap.
