BRITISH WWI MACHINE GUN CORPS BRODIE HELMET

One of the best British World War I Brodie helmets we have had for some time, a first-pattern rimless helmet of the War Department pattern, exterior with a small area of its original green paint finish visible, interestingly within the small portion visible there are also faint traces of the yellow added to the green as an early form of camouflage, the helmet is then been over painted in dark Green with the addition of a stencilled painted insignia of the Machine Gun Corps, on the left side of the helmet as the helmet is viewed is a faint outline beneath the black paint of another units flash in triangular form, the  skull with overall rust bleed and slight chipping to the black finish as can be viewed on our web images, on the right hand side of the helmet there is the remains of a rectangular flash also from a previous unit, to the interior the first pattern oilcloth liner all intact, with traces of trench mud still intact, with its original strong second pattern brown leather chinstrap. The  Machine Gun Corps was a war raised unit in 1915 and disbanded in 1922, a fabulous relic trench war World War I.
