A well-composed and highly detailed example of the British 1908 pattern web set, consisting of key components assembled over time by a dedicated collector. The set includes left and right ammunition pouches, a standard 08 belt, and a blue enamelled water bottle housed in its original web carrier—some light moth wear is visible to the felt covering.
The entrenching tool features a steel head with good finish remaining, clearly dated ‘1918’, broad arrow stamped, and housed in its proper web carrier. The small side pack is maker marked and faintly dated—likely ‘1910’ or ‘1918’—with the original owner’s name applied beneath. The large pack comes complete with two greatcoat straps, showing minor rust staining to the flap, and carries printed ownership details along with evidence of later issue to an Officer Training Corps unit.
Also included is a mess tin in a possibly reproduction cover, and the rare Hook Quillion display piece. The display piece is marked ‘1907 Wilkinson’ with additional proof stamps and shows some corrosion to the tip. It is paired with the extremely scarce Pattern 1908 haft holder, which properly attaches to the frog.
A fine and comprehensive example of the 08 webbing system, with components in varying shades reflecting its careful assembly over many years.
