BRITISH BOER WAR FOREIGN SERVICE HELMET

A very nice condition all-cork Foreign Service helmet, worn by an enlisted man in South Africa. All-white soft Melton body covering the cork, green-lined to the interior body with a canvas-lined inner bowl. Complete with its khaki field service cover and leather strap. To the interior of the helmet are two individual printed labels, which read ‘PART WORN ’, with what appears to be one or two different wearers names pencilled in to one of the canvas panels to the interior. Sweatband complete, which has lost some of its skin but is all intact, with its cork cushion that runs between the liner and the green inner lining.
