A superb example produced by the well-known Company of Thornhill of London, which has a history going back to 1734. This superb knife, measuring 32cm in length with a 19cm blade, is in original form that has been polished with a clear 'VR' over 'Thornhill, London'. Attached to the steel tang is the most beautiful black chequered horn grip, straight steel cross guard, fitted into its original leather scabbard that has its original very narrow belt loop fitted. The grip is secured to the steel hilt by three rivets and has wonderful cross-hatched detail. A variety of knives manufactured by Thornhill of London are illustrated in full colour in The London Knife Book, An A to Z Guide to London Cutlers 1820 to 1945.  The Company of Thornhill, London, closed its business in 1912.
